In the San Francisco Bay area where I live, the influence of Eastern cultures from across the Pacific can be seen in stores, architecture, and especially cuisine.  Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and other Asian restaurants are extremely popular here.  And that influence is the inspiration for the party idea I’d like to share with you in this post:  an East-Meets-West dinner party.

Two heads are better than one, right?  And when it comes to learning how to make tasty raw food recipes, I believe that four hands are better than two.  Let me explain...

In my experience, learning how to prepare raw food is just more fun when you do it with a friend. (Learning how to EAT raw food is just plain easy, of course.  All you have to do is dig in and enjoy mouthful after mouthful of fresh, wholesome, nutritious, and incredibly delicious flavors.)

I wanted to share another of the ever-growing list of reasons I love raw food.  I’ve discovered that in addition to being perfect for a meticulously planned dinner party, raw food recipes make it possible for me to be an ‘Instant Hostess.’  With a well-stocked pantry and a little advance preparation, I’m always ready for a last minute get-together with friends or family.

The raw food recipes in my books Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People and Raw for Dessert are filled with wonderful dishes you can prepare any time.  But I think you’ll find they’re especially useful at holiday time when people are likely to drop in at a moment’s notice.

Are you a fan of the old Saturday Night Live shows featuring Billy Crystal as the smooth-taking ‘Fernando’?  He’s the suave character that reminds us, “When you look mahvelous, you feel mahvelous.’

Well, I’ve got news for Fernando.  When you look marvelous, you taste marvelous, too...at least when you’re a raw food recipe!  In my cookbooks Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People and Raw for Dessert, I talk a lot about playing with the colors and textures of raw foods to make dishes even more appealing so that you can ‘eat with your eyes’ as the saying goes.
